When connected in series, all of the current flows through all of the resistors.
Current is a flow of electrons through a conductor, like the wire in a circuit. In a series circuit, there is only one path for the electrons to travel. This path takes all of the electrons through each of the resistors, meaning that the current flowing through all the resistors is equal. It is also equal to the current flowing through the source.
