Polyphyletic is about classification. If one group; which is called " clade "; comes from only one common ancester , this clade is said monophyletic.
If a clade comes from several ancesters, this clade is said polyphyletic.
For example : Insect is a monophyletic clade but reptiles are a polyphyletic clade.
