There are many sources of pollution.

Anything which disturbs natural environment can cause pollution. Much of pollution is caused by human activities although there are natural causes, such as forest fires. Humans are currently the main contributor to pollution of our planet. For example, industrial waste in water bodies damages and disturbs the water life. Excess noise from automobiles, cities, and airplanes causes noise pollution.

Pollution is harmful material released into the environment. One result of air pollution is acid rain. This occurs when exhaust from industries mixes with moisture in the air. This precipitation then falls as acid rain. It has damaged historic buildings, bridges, cathedrals, and monuments across Western Europe. Over the years, acid rain has also damaged forests and freshwater lakes.
