The formation of galaxies aren't fully understood, but we do know key factors that greatly contribute to their creation!
Explanation:
Spiral galaxies are formed mainly due to supermassive black holes that are in the center, these black holes are constantly pulling everything towards them. All the dust is from space debris which helps shape the spiral itself.
Galaxies are only spiraled initially, eventually the spirals will fade. (not in our lifetimes though!)
