I think you may be wondering how there is pictures of the Milky Way Galaxy, truth is that it's just an artists' representation. We truly have no idea what our galaxy looks like exactly. But we can infer due to what we can see that we are on one of the tails. Here is a picture of Andromeda, which was taken by Robert Gendler in his home observatory.
