How does the Hubble Space Telescope affect society?

I'd say it gives us as a world a sense of something greater than ourselves.
Explanation:
I think that it's very easy to get caught up in the moment and become consumed with self and work. We have all experienced this. I think that the images from the Hubble telescope snap us out of our rush and give us an awe. This awe gives us in turn a sense of something greater.
Also, these images can inspire people. Whether they inspire a young child to pursue a life in astronomy and eventually unravel the universe's secrets, or an older, cynical person to realize the joy in life. For me, it's the former.
