Rutherford just experimented to ensure that Thompson was correct but the results were not as expected from the proposed model of Thompson. Thereby he made some conclusions out of the experiments and disproved Thompson's model..Later he proposed one of his own which went wrong too.But Bohr at last made another model making use of the new discoveries and also it is much similar to that of Rutherford 's model.
