find the two intercepts and join them up

Explanation:

y = #-x^2 + 3#

y intercept is 3

when y is 0 x is x intercept:

0 = #-x^2 + 3#

#x^2# = 3

#sqrt3# = x intercept; then you just connect them and you have your line.
