Explanation:

Earthquake is just a release of energy by the collision of plate boundaries. That energy travels from focus outwards in all direction. When this energy is travels through one medium like the subsurface of earth, it is in form of body waves. When these body waves reach a certain change in medium like the surface of the earth or the MOHO, it converts into surface waves.
