This is because the water which we use on daily basis contains minerals which can conduct electricity nicely and as human body is also a good conductor of electricity,we can get an electric shock.

The water which cannot or conducts a negligible amount of electricity is distilled water( pure water,Its different from what we use daily). It is used mainly in labs for experiments.
