How does control of the anterior and posterior pituitary differ?

The Anterior produces hormones of its own. The Posterior does not.

Explanation:

Anterior: The secretion is controlled by the hypothalamus. They are proteins and glycoproteins. Such as Growth Hormone/Prolactin/Luteinizing/Follicle-stimulating/Thyroid-stimulating.

Posterior: It lies directly under the hypothalamus. It pretty much stores hormones, which are made in the cell bodies of the supraoptic/paraventricular neurons that are in the hypothalamus. It also just secretes two hormones. Antidiuretic and Oxytocin.
