What molecule is released from stage one of photosynthesis, but does not move to stage two?
1 Answer
Oxygen.
Explanation:
In the light reaction, the splitting of water occurs due to the oxidised Photosystem II. Whereas, the oxidised Photosystem I gets the electron from Photosystem II.
Water splits as following:
ATP produced from chemiosmotic hypothesis as well as NADPH2 produced in the light reaction go into the second stage i.e the Calvin cycle but not the oxygen molecule.
