Animals breathe in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. Plants take in that carbon dioxide and use it during photosynthesis to create oxygen which is released into the atmosphere.
Explanation:
During the daytime, plants take in carbon dioxide through their tiny pores called stomata which are placed on their leaves.
When sunlight falls on the leaves it triggers the process of photosynthesis which needs carbon dioxide along other reactants.
The products of photosynthesis are oxygen, sugar etc.
This oxygen is released into the atmosphere.
Animals take in this oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
Then again this carbon dioxide is taken in by the plants for photosynthesis.
This is called the oxygen cycle.
