- Global warming
- Acid rain
Explanation:
-
The combustion of fossil fuels in power stations produces carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas that traps heat from the sun and will lead to global warming due to accelerated greenhouse effect. It is one of the main cause of global warming.
-
Fossil fuels contain sulfur which reacts with oxygen during combustion and form sulfur dioxide which is acidic. When emitted, it will dissolve in the water droplets and falls as acid rain. Acid rain is corrodes marble buildings, destroys marine life and increases the acidity of soil which makes them unsuitable for plant growth.
