Pain, stiffness, loss of strength...

Explanation:

When you first tear your tendon, or 'rip' it, there will be pain. The pain may also get worse when you use it. (which you should not)
You may have more pain and stiffness during the night or when you get up in the morning, though by then you should have gone to the hospital to get it checked out. The area may be tender, red, warm, or swollen if there is inflammation. As well, you may notice a crunchy sound or feeling when you use the tendon.

The recovery period for torn tendons can take up to a year. Since our tendons keep things together, they take a long time to return to their original strength.
