If a star has a large parallax, then it is relatively close to earth.
Explanation:
Objects farther away will have a smaller parallax than objects closer to you.
Similar to if you were driving in a car, and you look out of the car window, or you're walking down the street. Objects closer to you go by quicker than objects in the distance. In other words, Objects closer to you have a larger parallax than objects in the distance
