Question #dca94

1 Answer

A mole of a substance represents a collection of atoms or molecules; in order to have 1 mole of any substance you need 6.0221023 atoms (or molecules) of that substance.

So, if you have 1 billion atoms, that is equivalent of 109 atoms. To find out how many moles of that substance you have, just set up a conversion factor

109 atoms1 mole6.0221023atoms=1.661015 moles

This is an interesting question, as it allows you to try and grasp how vast the number of atoms in 1 mole really is.
