lets start of with an example:

$(\frac{64}{81}) b y (\frac{8}{9})$ $(64/81)by (8/9)$

to start of we have to take the reciprocal of $(\frac{8}{9})$ $(8 / 9)$ this nothing but $(\frac{9}{8})$ $(9 / 8)$

so now we go ahead and multiply both the nos.

$\frac{64}{81} \cdot \frac{9}{8}$ $64/81 *9/8$
this is nothing but $\frac{8}{9}$ $8/9$

this can be used for all numbers which are rational
