Stationary Electric Charge

Explanation:

Static electricity is a term that causes a lot of confusion about the nature of electricity. One gets the impression that there are different types of electricity - static electricity and moving electricity. This impression is often represented in cartoon illustrations of electricity. These images often show electricity as a bolt of lightning. Sometimes these lightning bolts are shown flying through space, moving along wires, or moving through the air around wires. In these cartoons, they jump out and make you light up if you touch the wires.

In fact, there is one type of electricity. It is simply electric charge. Electric charges in motion form an electric current. Excess electric charge on an object is referred to as static electricity. If you provide a path to a neutrally charged object, an electric current will flow until the two objects are at equal potential.
