There are two ways to express something divided by 2.

We can use division :

$1/2 div 2" is the same as " 1/2 div 2/1$

Use the method of dividing by a fraction $rarr " x by the reciprocal"$

$1/2 div 2/1 = 1/2 xx 1/2$

= $1/4$

We can use multiplication.

"A half of something is written as $1/2 xx ...$

"A half of a half" is $1/2 xx 1/2$

= $1/4$
