Here , #f# is taken Positive for a Convex Lens
and is Negative for a Concave Lens

Explanation:

According to lens formula:-

#1/v-1/u=1/f#

Where:-

#v# is the image distance from the lens

#u# is the object distance from the lens

#f# is the Focal length of the lens

NOTE:-

  1. All the distances are measured from the Optical Center.

  2. Distance measured in the direction of incident light ray is taken as Positive and vice- versa .
