We could write a Lewis representation of #SO_4^(2-)# as #(O=)_2S(-O)_2^(2-)#, or of the #"parent acid"# as #(O=)_2S(-OH)_2#. This is a bit old-fashioned, and some representations give #stackrel(2+)S(-O^(-))_4#, but it is still #SO_4^(2-)#.

And typical sulfate salts are #Na_2SO_4#, #CaSO_4#, #FeSO_4#, and #BaSO_4#.
