Strong bases give solution that are stoichiometric in hydroxide ion.....

Explanation:

And thus a strong base such as NaOH or KOH dissolves in solution to give stoichiometric quantities of HO^- and M^+, i.e.

KOH(s) stackrel(H_2O)rarr K^(+) + HO^-

...the ions are aquated in solution.......

On the other hand, a weak base does not give stoichiometric quantities of hydroxide......

CO_3^(2-) +H_2O(l) rightleftharpoons ""^(-)HCO_3 + HO^-

....the equilibrium lies to the left........
