The emancipation Proclamation did not free anyone
Explanation:
Slavery was abolished by the thirteenth amendment in 1865. The emancipation proclamation was a war measure which was promoted since Lincoln thought slaves would rebel and join the Union forces. The 1800,000 slaves who joined the Union were given a very harsh work, they had to dig trenches and carry ammunition for instance.
The emanciption proclamation only freed slaves in the territories that were still controled by the Confederates. Slaves in Maryland, Missouri, West Virginia and Kentucky were not freed since those states were slave states that were faithful to the Union.
