Confusion on KE? I have a contradicting answer for an Energy problem. Isn't the KE of an object, when dropped from a certain height (40 m) going to be greatest before it hits the ground?

Yes that is correct. As a falling object falls further, it accelerates and gains velocity. At the lowest point, it'll have gained maximum velocity and hence it will have greatest kinetic energy
