Both molarity and molality are units of concentration.
Molarity (mol/L solution) is determined by taking the moles of the solute and dividing by the number of liters of the solution.
Molality (mol/kg solvent) is determined by taking the moles of the solute and dividing by the number of kilograms of just the solvent. You need to realize the mass of the solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent.
