Of course you are quite probably a yank. And thus we should use the `"US liquid pint"=473*mL`. (They also use a dry pint, whose volume I forget!),

Thus `4*L` `=` `4000*mLxx("1 pint")/("473 mL")` `=` `8.5" US pints"`.

I think this is a persuasive demonstration of the absurdity of non-SI units. Pints and gallons are all very well, but when there are `"US and Imperial pints"` this is bound to cause confusion (as it probably has here!).
