$x y (x^{2} y + 1)$ $xy(x^2y +1)$

Always look for a common factor first.
In this case both terns have $x y$ $xy$

$x^{3} y^{2} + x y$ $x^3y^2 + xy$

= $x y (x^{2} y + 1)$ $xy(x^2y +1)$

Take note that anything divided by itself equals 1.

The second term of 1 must appear in the bracket. If it is left out, when we multiply out we will not get back to the original expression.
