We wouldn't use the power rule for this function.

We would, however, use the rule of multiplication by constant.

In general:

d/dx(cf)=c*d/dxf

Also, keep in mind that:

d/dx(c)=0

Similarly, your function in these terms would look like:

f(x)=c_1f-c_2

Where:

c_1=1/2 and c_2=1/3

:. d/dx(1/2x-1/3)=1/2*1-0

=1/2
