A product is the answer to a multiplication.

In algebra $x \times x^{7} = x^{1 + 7} = x^{8}$ $x xx x^7 = x^(1+7) = x^(8)$

"If the bases are the same and you are multiplying, add the indices."

However, the bases can have any value, they do not only have to be variables.

In this case, $6 \times 6^{7} = 6 \times 6 \times 6 \times 6 \times 6 \times 6 \times 6 \times 6 = 6^{8}$ $6 xx 6^7 = 6xx6xx6xx6xx6xx6xx6xx6 = 6^8$

This is fine as the final answer, but if you multiply it out it is:

$1, 679, 616$ $1,679,616$

There is little point in doing so, because we know very little about this number in this form.

$6^{8}$ $6^8$ is far more useful.
