Explanation:

Slope is "rise"/"run", or the change in y divided by the change in x. Mathematically this is shown as

(deltay)/(deltax)

To find the change in a value, take the second one and subtract the first, or

deltan = n_2 - n_1

Therefore,

deltay = 4 - (-1) = 5
deltax = -3 - 2 = -5

Which means

(deltay)/(deltax) = 5/-5 = -1

which is the slope of the line.
