Applying the quadratic root formula
$x = \frac{- b \pm \sqrt{b^{2} - 4 a c}}{2 a}$ $x = (-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)$

we find the roots
$x = \frac{1 \pm \sqrt{- 7}}{2}$ $x = (1+-sqrt(-7))/2$
which can be evaluated using Complex numbers as
$x = \frac{1 + \sqrt{7} i}{2}$ $x = (1+sqrt(7)i)/2$
or
$x = \frac{1 - \sqrt{7} i}{2}$ $x=(1-sqrt(7)i)/2$
