The general point-slope form for a line is
color(white)("XXXX")y-b = m(x-a) with a slope of m through a point (a,b)

y=3+2(x-1) can be easily converted into that form:
color(white)("XXXX")y-3=2(x-1)
color(white)("XXXX")color(white)("XXXX")with a slope of 2 through the point (1,3)
