In order to solve this you must factor it.
1. Subtract the 20 to the left side of the equation.

$2x^2+18x-20=0$

$(cancel(2)(x^2+9x-10))/cancel(2)=0/2$

Those two factors would $10$ and $-1$ .

add them to $x$ and set to 0

$(x+10)(x+ -1)=0$
