Find two numbers that multiply to $2 xx -35 = -70$ and that add to $-9$ . Two numbers that do this are $-14 and 5$ .

$2x^2 - 14x + 5x - 35 = 0$

$2x(x - 7) + 5(x - 7) = 0$

$(2x + 5)(x - 7) = 0$

$x = -5/2 and 7$
