x = 2 and x = -3/4

Explanation:

Use the improved quadratic formula (Google, Yahoo Search)
D = d^2 = b^2 - 4ac = 25 + 96 = 121 --> d = +- 11
x = -b/(2a) +- d/(2a) = - 5/-8 +- 11/-8 = 5/8 +- 11/8
x = 16/8 = 2 and
x = - 6/8 = -3/4

NOTE. This improved formula is easier to remember and to proceed than the classical formula.
