The solutions are
a=1,a=2

Explanation:

(a+1)(a+2)=0 is already the factorised form of the equation
a2+3a+2

Since we have the factorised form we simply equate the factors to the number on the R.H.S and obtain the solutions.

(a+1)(a+2)=0

Solution 1:
a+1=0,a=1

Solution 2
a+2=0,a=2
