The third decimal place is thousandths so as a starting point write this as:

$\frac{125}{1000} \equiv \frac{125 \div 125}{1000 \div 125} = \frac{1}{8}$ $125/1000 -=(125-:125)/(1000-:125)= 1/8$

Not that $4 \times 25 = 100$ $4xx25=100$ so think of 125 as $100 + \frac{100}{4}$ $100+100/4$

$(100 + \frac{100}{4}) \times 8 = (800 + \frac{800}{4}) = 800 + 200 = 1000$ $(100+100/4)xx8 = (800+800/4) = 800+200=1000$
