The cyclic flow works in the following way:

An electron gets excited in the photosystem #-># the photosystem donates the excited electron #-># The electron gets transported by various molecules down a transporter chain #-># The energy is used by NADP+ reductase #-># The electron returns to the photosystem.

The noncyclic electron flow uses water as an electron donor. Water is split to replenish the lost electron in the photosystem.
