Mitosis differs in an animal cell from that of plant cells in two ways: in formation of astral rays on two sides of spindle and in the way cytokinesis takes place.
Explanation:
Centrioles, present in animal cells, travel to opposite poles as mitosis begins and a spindle apparatus is formed. Towards the poles of spindle, in a dividing animal cell, star like 'astral rays' appear. Such astral rays remain absent in poles of mitotic spindle of plant cell where centrioles are not at all present.
Cytokinesis in animal cell occurs by appearance pf cleavage furrow but in a plant cell a cell plate is laid to separate daughter cells.
