Then, as it is a perfect square, the area is $x^2$ sq. units
and it's perimeter is $4x$ units.

$x^2=36$

$x=+6 or -6 (rej.)$

The square hence have a side length of 6cm.

Perimeter of the square

$=4*6$

$=24$

Note 1: Area of a square equals to the width times the length, in which both are the same, giving $x^2$
