Clearly the mole ratios of the reactants are #"1:1"#, and #"2 equiv"# of product result.

And this can be seen from the stoichiometric equation you have already written.....alternatively we could write....

#1/2H_2(g) + 1/2Cl_2(g) rarr HCl(g)#

....which preserves the same molar ratio, i.e. the SAME STOICHOMETRY. And thus we could say that 1 equiv of dihydrogen reacts with 1 equiv of dichlorine (and note that all of the reactive elemental gases are binuclear!) to gives the 2 equiv of hydrogen chloride gas.....

And likewise we could say that #1*g# of dihydrogen combines with #35*g# of dichlorine to give #36*g# of hydrogen chloride gas. Stoichiometry is maintained: #"garbage in equal garbage out"#.
