In the case of polar molecules there will be strong interactions between solvent and solute. Then solvent molecules attract the solute molecules and take into the bulk of solvent. Then dissolution is occure. For example, alcohols and acids molecules are polar. Water molecules are also polar. Therefore alcohol is easily dissolved in water. Similarly pentane or hexane, hetane ... molceules are not polar (apolar). They are not dissolved in water.
