Polynomial Function of Degree n

A polynomial function f(x)f(x) of degree nn is of the form

f(x)=a_nx^n+a_{n-1}x^{n-1}+cdots+a_1x+a_0f(x)=anxn+an1xn1++a1x+a0,

where a_nan is a nonzero constant, and a_{n-1},a_{n-2},...,a_0 are any constants.

Examples

f(x)=x^2+3x-1 is a polynomial of degree 2, which is also called a quadratic function.

g(x)=2+x-x^3 is a polynomial of degree 3, which is also called a cubic function.

h(x)=x^7-5x^4+x^2+4 is a polynomial of degree 7.
