Half of $1/3$ of a cup can also be said as $1/3$ divided by $2$

It is easier to divide by $2$ if we have an even number.

Write $1/3$ as an equivalent fraction with an even numerator:

$1/3 = 2/6 = 4/12 = 6/18...$ and so on.

These fractions can now be easily divided by $2$

Half of $2/6$ is equal to $1/6$

Half of $4/12$ is equal to $2/12 =1/6$

Half of $6/18$ is equal to $3/18 = 1/6$

Or we could do it by a maths technique:

$1/3 div2/1$
$=1/3 xx 1/2$
$=1/6$
