The structure of a decimal is:

Decimal point

units+10ths+100ths+1000ths + ..and so on

So lets see if we can convert 12 as one of these.

Multiply by 1 and you do not change the actual value. However, 1 coms in many forms.

12[12×1] = [12×55] = 1×52×5 = 510

So we have:

units+10ths+100ths+1000ths + ..and so on

.0+510

This is written as 0.5

So 12=0.5
