Because of their reason for leaving Europe.

Explanation:

The Jewish people who found their way to New York in the late 19th century were doing so because of the "Pogroms" the Russian Czars used against them. These moves by the Czar uprooted entire Jewish communities and moved them to another location.

Many of those Jews who emigrated from Russia were educated and skilled tradesmen. The Irish and Italians who came to America were usually poorly educated, poverty stricken and without skills. They fled poverty while the Jews fled persecution.
