Since it's easy to remember, or to compute, that 302=900, our number will surely be greater than 30. Also, you don't need to check all the numbers: if a square of a number ends up with 4, the number can end only with 2 or 8. So, I tried 322 and 382, and I found out that 38 was the right number.
