Nationalism is a good thing

Explanation:

The War of 1812 led to the emergence of a national feeling in America, people really started to feel American instead of British. The American army was mostly weak and only general Andrew Jackson succeeded in defeating the British like in New Orleans in 1815. The era of good feelings followed the war and it was characterized by a strong patriotic mood.

The famous song "Star-spangled banner" was written by Francis Scott Key referring to Washington being bombed and president Madison fleeing the capital in 1814, this song became the national anthem in 1931.
