Explanation:

It is caused by protozoan parasites. Malaria parasites are transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes. It depends on malaria you want to know the full name of the pathogen, but there is a chart on Wikipedia that actually is pretty good. But for the plain word malaria, it is just Plasmodium.

Malaria is caused by a pathogen known as Plasmodium ,which belongs to the phylum Apicomplexa,they bear an apical complex which helps in the interaction with glycophorin receptor of RBCs which is important to start Erythrocytic cycle.
